Do I need a boating license?

Texas requires boater education for some operators. If you were born on or after September 1, 1993, Texas law requires you to complete a boater education course to operate a motorboat over 15 HP, a personal watercraft (PWC), or a sailboat over 14 feet. You're responsible for meeting all applicable Texas boating laws, age, supervision, and photo-ID requirements before operating the boat — or simply add a captain so no license is needed on your end.
